This is a new one. A German solar company that mostly focuses on floating solar power plant solutions has come up with something novel. It has introduced tiltable, portable solar panels. These SKipp solar panels from Sinn Power are ideal for something like camping or mobile work sites where you move location frequently.
Sinn Power has achieved 750 megawatts of installed floating solar power, and another 100 megawatts of installed land-based solar.

These new tiltable, portable solar panels don’t need to be anchored into the ground, which also makes them a power solution for some sensitive off-grid areas where you aren’t allowed to mount stuff into the ground.
But then won’t they blow over? Reportedly, not. According to the company, they will remain standing even in strong winds. Don’t ask me what magic is involved there. Okay, it’s not magic — there’s a pendulum involved, so basic science. But how sure is the company that this really holds up in windy conditions? Very, apparently. “Tipping over can be ruled out, even without anchoring the modules to the ground,” Sinn Power states.
“With SKipp, we have redesigned open ground-mounted and agrivoltaic systems,” explained Philipp Sinn, founder and managing director of the German company. “This photovoltaic solution meets the highest technical requirements and at the same time offers our customers maximum flexibility and optimal electricity yield in terms of location and duration of use.” It does seem like these could also be a good technological option for agrivoltaic installations.
You can use basic, conventional solar PV modules with this application, or you can use bifacial solar modules to maximize solar energy generation in all types of installations and locations.
