After exhaustive research I bought [the X5 EV charger] about 15 months ago for my Chevrolet Bolt EV and had an electrician install it. Without a doubt this is probably the most expensive charger on the market but it’s worth every dime. The old saying “you get what you pay” for is very true in this instance.
The housing is solid, very heavy cast aluminum, therefore virtually indestructible and not subject to corrosion. The cord is top quality and remains flexible and safe from -40°C to +50°C, also the unit remains operating at these temperatures reliably, and as a Canadian this is extremely important.
The data connectivity was super easy to set up and works very well allowing me to control all aspects of my charging experience. This unit is also fully certified for use outdoors. FLO backs their unit to the hilt and can service it as well, in a timely manner. Check out the competition lots of plastic parts and not at all suited for extreme weather conditions, and little to no service available. Choose wisely and you won’t go wrong.
